The airport was established in 1939 and was originally known as the Aéroport de l’Ancienne-Lorette. It was renamed to Aéroport de Sainte-Foy in 1941 and to Aéroport de Québec in 1960. In 1993, the airport was renamed to Aéroport international Jean-Lesage in honor of Jean Lesage, the former Premier of Quebec.
