Toronto Pearson International Airport, commonly known as Toronto Pearson or simply Pearson, is the main airport serving Toronto, the Greater Toronto Area, and the surrounding Golden Horseshoe region in the province of Ontario, Canada. It is the largest airport in Canada by total passengers served and by international passengers served. In 2022, it handled 29,908,844 passengers. The airport is located 22.5 kilometres (14.0 mi) northwest of Downtown Toronto. It has five runways and two passenger terminals along with numerous cargo and maintenance facilities on a site that covers 1,867 hectares (4,613 acres).
Pearson International Airport was named after Lester B. Pearson, the 14th Prime Minister of Canada, who served from 1963 to 1968. He is remembered for his efforts to keep the peace during the Cold War and was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1957.
Pearson Airport is a major hub for Air Canada, WestJet, Porter Airlines, Air Transat, and Sunwing Airlines. It is also served by a number of other airlines, including United Airlines, Delta Air Lines, American Airlines, and Lufthansa.
