Martinique Aimé Césaire International Airport is the main international airport of Martinique, an overseas department of France located in the Lesser Antilles archipelago in the Caribbean Sea. It is located in the commune of Le Lamentin, about 12 km (7.5 min) south of the capital, Fort-de-France.
The airport was opened in 1950 and was originally named Lamentin Airport. It was renamed in 2007 in honor of Aimé Césaire, a Martiniquan poet, playwright, and politician who was a major figure in the Négritude movement.
